~ Let There Be Peace ~
By Mark Evenchick

Dedicated to Carys Adair Arbon,
Born December, 15, 2011

A lonely Christmas Eve,
Trudging through the snow
No special place I had to be,
Had no place to go
Trough an open window,
A voice I chanced to hear
Singing with such tenderness,
A song so pure and clear…

Let there be peace
Let there be peace
Keep this child from war
Keep this child from need
Let her grow up in the arms of love
Her spirit always free
Let there be peace
Let there be peace

As she sang
I felt the wall,
That had grown around my heart
Begin to crumble,
Crack and fall apart
Partly prayer,
Partly lullaby
The magic of this gift,
A mother singing to her child.

Let there be peace
Let there be peace
Keep this child from war
Keep this child from need
Let her grow up in the arms of love
Her spirit always free
Let there be peace
Let there be peace

Sometimes you’ll hear a song
Of such sincerity,
Touch you to your core,
Make you want so to believe
If everyone could hear it ,
Perhaps the world would change
Wouldn’t that be wonderful,
Wouldn’t that be strange.

Let there be peace
Let there be peace
Keep this child from war
Keep this child from need
Let her grow up in the arms of love
Her spirit always free
Let there be peace
Let there be peace
